About

Iona is a chartered mechanical engineer with experience across a number of building sectors, scales and countries. She has a background in sustainability and building physics, and specialises in energy strategy and low-carbon heat network design for residential buildings and masterplans.

She has a keen focus on sustainable design that maximises social value for the end user and local communities. She is one of the main authors of CIBSE guides AM16: Heat Pump Installations for Multi-unit Residential Buildings and AM17: Heat Pump Installations in Large Non-domestic Buildings.

On the Associate Programme, she was matched with the role of Housing Energy and Sustainability Manager at the Royal Borough of Greenwich. During her placement, she was responsible for building the capacity of the Housing Asset Management Team to deliver housing retrofit projects, and to integrate sustainability into the borough's capital programmes.

This involved procuring consultants and contractors for large-scale retrofit and heat network upgrade projects, managing project teams, briefing Members on key sustainability decisions, developing a decarbonisation and retrofit strategy for our social housing, and beginning to build an in-house Housing Sustainability Team.
