About
Joanna began her placemaking career in events and marketing, working for a Business Improvement District and on a regeneration project in Stratford, east London. She had a parallel career in the creative arts, managing staff and volunteers at Camden Art Centre. Following her passion for people and place, Joanna later re-trained as an urban scientist and policy researcher, working within UCL’s City Leadership and Urban Policy research centres.
Joanna holds a PhD in Urban Policy from UCL. Her applied research involved facilitating and evaluating community-led policy research projects in partnership with the Greater London Authority. This experience helped her to develop expertise in research and community engagement and led her towards Public Practice.
