Nkechi Okeke-Aru

About

Nkechi has extensive local government experience completing outcome-based research projects and delivering high profile service improvement and change projects in a range of council services including homeless-ness prevention, housing provision and regeneration. Before joining the Associate Programme, she worked for the London Borough of Brent wjere she managed the infrastructure delivery plan, including developing infrastructure policy, managing S106 projects and an award winning CIL programme. She also developed strategic interventions and construction packages to improve Oxford Street’s public realm at Westminster City Council. Nkechi has been on the steering group of a local community-led housing organisation.

Autumn Cohort 2021

London Borough of Kingston

Nkechi took on the role of High Street Recovery Lead at the London Borough of Kingston, where her focus was on delivering the agreed objectives of the Kingston Economic Recovery Taskforce. This included addressing unemployment through actions on skills and employment, inward investment in high streets, and the transition to the green economy and digital inclusion. She project-led the development of adaptive strategies and bespoke programs for town center diversification and renewal through innovation and experimentation.
