Louise Wood

Louise is the Service Director for Planning and Housing (Chief Planner) at Cornwall Council. Her journey into the sector comes from a background in art and design, where her interest in how housing impacts us ultimately resulted in her dedication to creating great places and homes.

Her early career was spent working in planning in outer London Authorities before returning home to Cornwall in 2007. Over the last decade, she has worked across a range of roles in Cornwall Council from policy and strategy to development management, regeneration and housing. A significant amount of her work has been focussed on the delivery of large-scale projects, most notably West Carclaze Garden Village. She is a passionate advocate for what local government and great planning can do.
