Senior Infrastructure Project Officer

This is your opportunity to help shape Old Oak and Park Royal, the only place where High-Speed Two, the Elizabeth Line and Great Western will all connect into one of the largest and best-connected regeneration projects in the UK.

Working closely with other public sector partners, the 90 acres of development land in Old Oak West brings tremendous opportunities to see a renewed and truly exemplary urban district emerge – one that showcases environmental, social, and economic innovation and best practice and which delivers genuinely inclusive growth for existing and future communities alike.

The purpose of the job is to:

  • Deliver a range of engineering, sustainability, transport and infrastructure projects within the OPDC area.
  • Work with external stakeholders, including Boroughs, Network Rail, the Canals and Rivers Trust, Statutory Utilities companies and our consultancy teams.
  • Assist in coordinating various project activities, milestones, and timelines to meet deadlines and keep the Development Programme on track.
  • Ensure good project progress while identifying possible challenges and risks. 
  • Manage and monitor external consultants, reviewing technical reports and drawings, sharing knowledge with other OPDC teams (design, development, etc) and producing status reports to update on progress and address key issues. 
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of communications on technical and policy matters with international organisations, Government departments, the London Boroughs, and other organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

The role deliverables also include:

  • Feeding into the Delivery Directorate’s wider strategic workstreams, including funding and financing strategies, developer procurement, strategy development, infrastructure investment, land and property acquisition, and the formulation and delivery of major development opportunities.
  • Demonstrating good technical knowledge in your area of experience in either engineering, transport, sustainability or infrastructure to be able to guide work planning and decision-making within the organisation and have experience of project managing projects including budget, programme, and stakeholders.
  • The role may cover a broad range of projects, from highway improvement schemes and utilities planning to developing low-carbon energy projects in Park Royal.
  • A willingness to be adaptable and develop new skills is required.

Reporting:

  • You will report to the Principal Project Manager in the Infrastructure Team.
  • There are no line management responsibilities associated with this role.

About You

To be considered for the role, you must meet the following essential criteria:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification or ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and skills gained through experience. 
  • Experience of working with, or alongside, the public and private sector and a good understanding of the differences in their perspectives and values.
  • Experience in project and/or programme management and reporting.
  • Good understanding of one or more of the following: infrastructure, transport, engineering, sustainability, utilities or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly.

Job Package

  • Salary band of £51,029 - £56,329 per annum
  • Career average pension scheme, with 10.4% employer contribution
  • 30 days annual leave (plus public holidays)
